Well, This is Awkward...

Dear Family and Friends,

This week has been one of the best of my mission so far. I learned a lot and had a lot of fun too, a great combination.

Last Monday we did normal P-day stuff. We had a pizza party with our district too, which was fun. I also decided to give up soda, so I took all my Dr. Pepper and gave it away. It was sad, haha. We'll see how long this lasts, hopefully I can stay motivated. And then Monday evening when we were leaving to go out and proselyte we discovered big rocks behind our tires. Placed there by none other than our district leader and his companion. Haha. We told them it popped our tires. They say they didn't believe us, but they were pretty stressed about it until we told them our tires were fine. Haha.
And then Tuesday. Now you'll understand the subject line of this email. So we had zone meeting and we did a great training. Apparently the Assistants and President have been concerned about our mission being socially awkward. So we legitimately had a training on how NOT to be socially awkward. It was really funny and a lot of fun. Also, I learned a lot. We did role playing and discussed how to talk to people without being awkward. And now we're all super aware of every awkward encounter we have. I'm not sure if our training helped or hurt our awkwardness. Haha.

And then Tuesday evening we had our zone leaders come and dedicate our house. Basically it was just a prayer, but it was pretty cool since I've never heard a house dedication prayer before.
Friday was another fun day. We had weekly planning, which wasn't the most productive, but we had lots of fun. Two other sisters in our zone stole the ZLs car keys and then we helped them put lots of streamers in their car. It was really funny to see their reactions. And then we went to chick fil a for lunch, that was great.

Saturday was an awesome day too. Well mostly just the end of it. So the other stake in our zone had their stake conference this weekend and Sister CW (one of the Sister Training Leaders) was speaking on Saturday night. So we asked if we could go and listen to her and we got permission to go. And I'm so glad we did. It was an awesome meeting and I learned so much. But it was a little bit awkward since it wasn't our stake and we didn't know anybody. But the super cool thing that happened is that I got to see Joseph Smith. Not the real one obviously, but the actor who is in Joseph Smith: Prophet of the Restoration (only one of my favorite movies ever). It turns out he lives in Queen Creek, Arizona. Who knew? He also drives a mini van, which we know because we saw him walking out to his car. He looks way different though-he's got a long beard and long hair, probably for a movie he'll be filming soon. So yeah, that was pretty sweet and definitely a highlight of my week.

And then Sunday. It was mostly a normal Sunday lots of meetings and church. We did have one unusual thing though. The bishop in one of our wards introduced us to B. She's a 17 year old girl that has been coming to church in our ward for the past year with her boyfriend and his family. She turns 18 soon and wants to be baptized, so we're going to start teaching her. I'm super excited about it. I've seen her at church before, but I thought she was already a member. She's really sweet and so prepared to be baptized. I'll keep you updated on how that goes.

And then we had transfer calls last night. Surprisingly they didn't take very long, probably because we don't have a ton of new missionaries coming in. I found out that I'm staying in this area for at least one more transfer, until December 17. And Sister C is staying here with me. We're both excited to stay and continue to work hard. I am really excited about this transfer and I know it'll be amazing!
I feel so grateful to be out here in Arizona serving the Lord. I am grateful that He trusted me enough to send me here. And I am so grateful for the sacrifice of His son and that through Him we can return to live with our Heavenly Father again. I know that by living His teachings, we can be truly happy. I am so grateful for the Book of Mormon and a living prophet, Thomas S. Monson, to help lead our church today. I love this gospel and I love sharing it with other people. It has brought me so much joy and happiness and I want to share it with everyone that will listen.

Well that was pretty much my week. I hope all is well back home and that everyone is doing great. I love and miss you all!

Love from,
Baylee
