Dear Family and Friends,
Well, as of tomorrow I'll have been out for 5 months. How crazy is that?! I can't believe the time has gone by so fast. And this is the last week of our transfer which is crazy too. So next week I'll let you know if I'm staying in this area or going somewhere new.
Last Monday was an interesting day. We slept and did another district activity. And then that night we went to a block party one of the members was having. They invited some of the nonmember neighbors, so we got to meet them and got to eat some good food. Haha. And then that night we had an interesting experience. It was about 9:15 and we had just finished planning when we heard a knock on the door. It was pretty loud and intense and we weren't expecting anyone. And when we checked the peephole there was no one there. So Sister C opened the door and then slammed it and said, "It's a baby!" Naturally, we were shocked and needed more proof, so I opened it and then slammed it again. It really was a baby in a carseat. Our first thought was that someone thought we were a safehaven. But we reacted really quickly. We decided to call president and get the baby inside since it was kind of chili. But in the back of my mind I felt like something was off, so I stepped outside to look around and a firefighter came up and asked if we'd seen a baby. And then he asked if we'd been pranking some elders. So we turned around, and there was our district leader and his companion videoing this whole situation. It turns out the firefighter was a member in their ward and the baby was his. It was his idea to use the baby to prank us, and his wife agreed as long as they taped it. The best part though is that our "prank" wasn't really a prank. They leave their bikes outside our house since we live in their area and so we took their helmets and put rocks in them. That was it. So they left a baby on our doorstep. It was really funny though. And now half the mission knows about it since we told our zone and they've told other people. Haha.
The rest of the week was pretty great too. On Tuesday we met with the B's again, the awesome couple coming back to church. They are so excited about it. They've both stopped drinking coffee, have started reading the Book of Mormon, and are working towards getting sealed in the temple. I really feel so blessed that I have been able to teach them and get to know them a little bit.
Wednesday morning we went to the temple, which was amazing. I love the temple and how peaceful it is there. I am so grateful to be in a mission that has a temple so close and a new one that is about to open in our mission. Then we came back and did a half day exchange with our roommates. I went out with Sister S while our companions, Sister K and Sister C stayed home since they were feeling sick. It was pretty fun. We went to their area for awhile and then to ours. And then we had the chili cook-off and trunk or treat that night for both of our wards. So we got to eat chili in both wards and were going back and forth between the two all night. Luckily they were in the same parking lot, so it wasn't too hard. And we got a TON of candy, so that was kind of nice.
Thursday was a super weird day. We couldn't proselyte since it was Halloween so we had a mission conference. It involved a lot of role playing, not my favorite, but I did learn a lot. We also played Jeopardy and did some other fun activities. And it was fun to see everyone again. We had to be home by 5 that night, but we had permission to watch Ephraim's Rescue and 17 Miracles, so we borrowed them from a member and watched them. They were really good. And we were glad that we didn't have to study all night. Not that studying is bad, but that would have been a lot of studying. Haha.
Saturday we had exchanges, which was pretty good. I went to a different area. It was in Gilbert. It was a nice area and all, but it made me realize how much I love Queen Creek, in some ways it reminds me of home. I've decided I don't want to leave. Not that I get to decide what happens. Haha. I guess I'll find out soon enough.
And that was pretty much everything exciting that happened this week. It was a good week though and I'm excited for another one. I hope everything is great back home and that you're all staying busy and enjoying life. I love and miss you all!
Love always,
Baylee
