A late update...
Dear Family and Friends,
So this week has been pretty great. But so is every week. We're already halfway through our transfer, which is crazy! And the weather here is starting to be really nice, even during the day.
Last Monday our zone played softball. I just watched because I had to write some letters, but I've decided I'll participate in the next sporting thing we do.
Tuesday we met with a less active sister in the ward again. Her husband is not a member, and she wants us to come over while he's there so we can talk to him. We're excited to get to know him better and to hopefully start teaching him. I know he would love the gospel because it will bless his life so much, and his family.
That night we met with H, a recent convert that wasn't actually baptized in our mission. But she's in our ward now and we're enjoying teaching her and getting to know her. It is so cool to see her knowledge of the gospel increase and her testimony grow as she continues to learn. That's really what being a missionary is all about, helping people strengthen their relationship with Christ and find true joy and happiness through the gospel. I love that I get the chance to help people do that!
Friday was a fun day. We had weekly planning, and we all meet as a zone at the church to plan. It helps us stay focused and get more planning done. But sometimes it actually distracts us more. Well this week my roommates, Sister C and I decided to prank our zone leaders. And it was really funny. I left the room with another sister while my roommates talked to Elder A. Basically they convinced him that I have a boyfriend back home who just got home from his mission and has been writing me and asking me to come home and get married. They pretended to be really worried about me because it was stressing me out. So after they talked to him for a few minutes they came and told us how he reacted. He didn't know what to do and I was worried that he was going to call president, so I told him that there's not really a boy and that I'm fine. Our other zone leader, Elder Y had no idea what was going on, so then we had to explain it to him. We thought they might be annoyed or angry, but they were actually really impressed that we were able to come up with that. It was kind of funny.
And then on Saturday night, to get us back, they came and turned our power off at 9 PM when we were planning. We were able to get it back on, no problem, but they denied that it was them. Until the next day when they called and told us it was them. They didn't want us to be freaked out, I guess. They called our roommates as well and apologized. In response, Sister K told them game on, and they said bring it. So we might be involved in a prank war. Except nothing too crazy because we are missionaries. But if anyone has some fun ideas, that aren't too crazy, we could do to get them back, I would love suggestions. Haha.
Yesterday was pretty cool too. We were able to schedule a lot of appointments to meet with members and nonmembers and we're excited about this week to come.
I want to leave you with my testimony. I know that is is the true Church of Jesus Christ established again on the earth today. I know that Joseph Smith was the prophet that helped bring it back. I know that he also helped translate The Book of Mormon, and I know that by reading it, you can find more happiness than you ever thought possible. I know that we have a living prophet today who helps lead the church. And I know that Jesus Christ atoned for our sins and made it possible for us to return to live with God again. I am so blessed to have the chance to share this knowledge every day and I love every second of it.
Anyways, I hope you're all doing well back home. I'm loving it out here and can't imagine being anywhere else. I do love and miss you all though. Have a wonderful week!
Love always,
Baylee
P.S. They finally announced the Gilbert Temple open house! It's January 18-February 15. And then the cultural celebration is March 1, and the dedication is March 2. I'm so excited to get to help out with it!
