Here is Baylee's letter from her second week:
"Well, the past week has been pretty intense. Sister Kratzer and I are really starting to get to know the area and have talked to a lot of people. We've met a lot of the members since we have dinner at their houses every night except for Monday since it's P-day. We get a lot of tacos, but I don't mind it too much. they're all a little bit different and I love Mexican food.
As of today I am officially in the Gilbert mission. It's tiny, so transfers will be interesting-it won't take longer than like 20 minutes to get to our new area. Haha. We get to meet our mission president on Wednesday. He's going around to each zone to meet and interview us. I'm excited but also a little bit nervous. And then next Wednesday we have another transfer. It's shorter because they want Tempe and Gilbert on different transfer schedules, so we got a 3 week transfer for this transfer. It's going to be insane. We're getting 19 new missionaries, and 13 of them are sisters. We only have 18 sisters right now, so there will be a lot of us training. It'll be interesting to see what happens. It's possible that I could be a trainer, which is kind of scary since I've only been out for 2 weeks, but I also know that if that's what the Lord needs me to do then I'll do it and He will help me.
On Friday Sister Kratzer and I had exchanges with the Sister Training Leaders. It was super cool. I was with Sister Neal who has been out for 15 months. We went to her area where I got to teach my first official lesson, which was awesome. It's an amazing feeling to help someone come to understand something about the gospel. We also talked to several other people. When we came back, we found out that Sister Kratzer and Sister Lemon had some really neat experiences as well. They street contacted several of the people that Sister Kratzer and I hadn't been able to get ahold of yet. It is so cool to see how the Lord truly is involved in this work.
We spoke in church yesterday as well. It was crazy because we only had like 30 minutes to prepare our talks. I don't remember most of what I said, but I was definitely guided by the spirit. We cover 2 wards, so we were in meetings for 6 hours yesterday. I know that sounds horrible, but it actually went by really quickly and I really enjoyed it.
Other than that my week hasn't been very exciting. We had a district meeting on Tuesday and planning on Friday. Those are fun because we get to see the other missionaries in our zone and hear all kinds of cool stories. And today is P-day, which is also great because we get to do laundry, email home, and go shopping. Normally we email at the public library, which is really cool because there are at least like 24 missionaries that use that library to email home. We get to see people from other zones, and it's really fun. Then we all go to Wal Mart to go grocery shopping. It's probably overwhelming for everyone else, but it's really fun for all of us. Haha.
Anyways, I have to go because my time is almost up. I just want you all to know that I love this gospel and I love being a missionary. It's so cool to share my testimony with others each and every day. I know this is the true church of Jesus Christ restored on the earth today. I know that Joseph Smith was the prophet that restored the church and translated the Book of Mormon. And I know that living the gospel will bring you more joy and happiness than you ever thought possible. Never forget that Heavenly Father knows and loves you and is always there for you. I have learned that the Lord is in charge of our lives and I am so thankful that He loves me enough to guide me each and every day."
