Dear friends and family,
Can you believe I've already been gone for a month and a half?!? Time flies out here. We're already on the third week of our transfer, which means in a few weeks i'll find out if i'm staying here or going to another area. I try not to think too much about that though, because it freaks me out. Haha.
This week was great. We had our first official District Meeting, which was really cool. For the past month we've just met as a zone, but it was cool to have just the district. I learned a lot about my purpose as a missionary and how I can be a better missionary. It's really cool to see how even though we are taught the same thing, we all learn something different that we personally needed to learn.
Sister Kratzer also got x-rays done on her joints which have been bothering her. But they came back normal and bascially the doctor has no idea what's wrong. But since her pain has been getting worse and riding a bike all day wasn't helping that, President Nattress got us a car. It's a red Toyota Corolla and I love it.
On Thursday our whole zone went to help an older lady and her family move. It was really fun to do service. Sister Kratzer and I helped pack up the inside of the house while all the elder took down a horse corrall in the back. And we got to wear pants, which was super awesome because wearing a skirt all the time gets old really fast. And we got pizza for lunch, which was also great.
And on Saturday I experienced my first official Monsoon. We were in a lesson with Rayven, but when we got out it was pouring. The streets were literally running with water. And in the 30 seconds it took us to get to our car, Sister Kratzer and I got soaked. The storms themselves are pretty cool though. Especially the lightning. It starts awhile before the rain and it's really intense. Unfortunately, the monsoons have made it a lot more humid out here, but compared to back home it's still not too bad.
The members here are seriously the best. They love to give us food. We got 2 watermelons last week and literally cut them in two and ate the halves. I'm pretty sure I ate like a fourth of the watermelon myself. It was kind of hilarious. We've also gotten zuccini and squash and peppers and cases of water (cause the tap water out here tastes horrible) and candy and cookies. I seriously love our wards.
This week we also got our first official investigator. Her name is Rayven and she is a single mom with four kids. She's looking for a good church for her family and is very open minded. We've taught her a few lessons and she came to church yesterday. It was really cool to see the ward welcome her and her kids. And I love being able to help her understand how she can come closer to Christ. It's really cool that my focus while I'm on my mission is completely on others. I focus on them and how I can help them strengthen their relationship with their Savior. Being a missionary is the best!
Anyways, I've got to get going because my time is almost up, but I love and miss you all. I hope you're all doing well and enjoying the rest of summer. I'd love to get letters from you!
Love always,
Baylee
P.S. The random picture of the chair is in our garage and it's super creepy so I thought I'd send a picture of it. Haha.
