December 23

Dear Family and Friends,

Well, as usual I have had a crazy week. But this one was even more crazy than usual.

Last Monday Sister Carroll and I did some Christmas shopping and were gone most of the day. We went to the post office to send packages home, and that was insane! The line was forever long.

On Tuesday we had our normal district meeting and did lots of role playing. We also went out to lunch as a zone for the last time before transfers. That was somewhat sad. I've really loved being companions with Sister Carroll and I was sad to see her go. There was also an Elder that came out at the same time as me who has been in my district my entire mission so far. It's weird to think he won't be at our meetings anymore either.

Wednesday was a crazy day, transfer days always are. We had to get there pretty early and I had several training meetings to go to, and then we met our new companions. Mine is Sister Chase. She's from Richmond Utah and is 19 years old. She's brand new and has only been here for a few days. But she's really excited to work hard and really sweet and I think we'll get along well. We also got a sister in our district who's from England, so that's really cool. She has an awesome accent and loves Downton Abbey, so I think we'll get along. Haha. After the meeting we went to the Gilbert temple and took a mission picture, that was cool because there are a lot of us. And it was a pretty day.

Thursday was our mission Christmas party. We went to the temple as a mission first, which was so cool. We went to the 10 and 10:30 sessions, and they were definitely packed! And then we went to a church and ate lunch and did a bunch of fun activities. Every zone had to do a skit, so we got to watch all of those. We also did some fun minute to win it games. And we got letters from our families back home, which was really cool. It was a surprise and we all really enjoyed it-thanks mom and dad. Haha. And then for our last activity we went outside as a mission and we all had a white balloon with a light at the bottom. We sang Silent Night and then let all the balloon fly up into the sky and then sang it again. It was so neat. The balloons represented all the people that have been baptized in the mission this year so far. It was cool to see how many there were and to see that what we're doing out here really does make a difference.

The next few days were pretty normal days. Lots of trying to contact people and knocking on doors. We also go to go to 2 Christmas parties for different families in the ward. It was fun to be part of those.
And then yesterday we spoke in Sacrament Meeting in one of our wards. That was pretty cool actually, I enjoy speaking a lot more than I used to. I still get nervous, but I also get kind of excited. I think I just really love sharing what I learned while I was preparing what to say. My problem is learning how to make it all flow smoothly and make sense. Haha.

We were just asked to bear our testimonies about the Savior and His birth. It has been really cool this year for me to be able to focus on that side of Christmas so much. I still get excited about decorations and gifts and everything, but it's all because the Savior was born. And it's amazing to me how significant His birth was. Because He was born and because He suffered for our sins, it is possible for us to be forgiven of our past mistakes. I am so grateful that we have this holiday to remember how wonderful of a gift Jesus Christ was to the whole world. I just hope I can remember that all year long.

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and get some great gifts and have fun with family. But most importantly, remember the true meaning of Christmas. I love and miss you all!

Love always,
Baylee
